Busia biogas for schools
On request of AMREF Health in Kenya, we have assessed two more schools in Busia for the installation of biogas and solar water heating as part of the FINISH-INK program. The schools can gain a lot not only from the gas produced by the biogas, but also to save the highly costly emptying of the latrines each term. Furthermore, the solar water heating systems can significantly reduce the amount of firewood used to heat water for cooking in the kitchen. Both schools are boarding schools, with around a 1000 students.
We also visited the farmer where we recently constructed a biogas plant as a demonstration plant for the community, and were happy to see that the gas was produced in abundance and the farmer could now connect the stove and start cooking with the biogas!
